Boatshop24 al Düsseldorf Boatshow 2015

The world’s biggest boat and water sports trade fair drew to a close after nine days on Sunday, 25th January. This year’s theme was “experience 360° water sports” and visitors could become active themselves. As in previous years, the fashion week of water sports offered a lot: boat premieres, prize-givings and many water sports highlights. We had a large amount of visitors at our Boatshop24 stand in hall 9 and the expectations of other exhibitors were also fulfilled. Optimism was felt from all levels of companies.

Düsseldorf - All in all, 1,741 exhibitors were present at the big boats event - 846 from Germany. Hence, there was an above-average number of international exhibitors, while most of them were from the Netherlands (142), Italy (114), France (80) and Great Britain (50). The international flair was not only noticable with exhibitors, but also with the 240,200 visitors who came from around 60 countries. 20,000 visitors came from abroad and every third visitor was from the North, East or South of Germany.

Compared to the previous year, 400 less visitors attended the boat fair. This can probably be attributed to bad weather conditions on the second Saturday, which traditionally attracts most visitors. However, this did not harm the very good vibe in the halls. Boat enthusiasts could get insights about boat premieres, new water sports gear, equipment and maritime services.

Business Insights from Exhibitors

According to the head of BVWW, Juergen Tracht, the new boat sales of power boats and sailing yachts and sailing boats were very good, as well as equipment and boat accessories. Moreover, many visitors were interested in small boats resulting from the recent changes in the Federal Waterway Act. A licence is not needed for boats with motors under 15 PS in Germany.

Many visitors also invested a lot in high quality convenience equipment, cooking utensils such as refrigeration or air conditioning technology as well as marine and consumers electronics.

Most people were interested in sailing boats and yachts (around 50%). Every third visitor enquired about motor boats, nautical equipment and accessories, while one in four visitors bought items to do with diving trips and diving equipment. Finally, every fifth dove into the travel worlds in hall 13 and 14.

20 experience and themed worlds and exciting happenings

There was so much to see and experience and 25% of the visitors tried to do water sports themselves. The majority of visitors explored the sailing center, followed by the diving center, power boat center, trip world and beach world. Our Boatshop24 team couldn’t let the opportunity slip to explore the diving hall. The Water Pixel World 2015 offered daily around 25 reports about film, photography, technology and equipment, sports, nature and ecology.

The two  IMOCA Ocean Masters major round the world races Barcelona World Race (two handed) and Vendée Globe (solo) were also a big topic at the boot. There was a live link to Jörg Riechers at the Renault-Captur via satellite telephone, which unfortunately did not run smoothly due to regatta problems. You can track here who is currently at the top.

The Boatshop24 Stand

We had a very interesting teaser at our stand with regards to our new broker app. Visitors could take our Boat Trader, Boatshop24 and Boten.nl magazines with them for free. Numerous visitors participated in our competition and a lot of immediate wins were given out such as fenders from segelladen.de. In addition, visitors could try Kessler Hochgewächs sparkling wine, which did extraordinary well. On the 27th January 2015 the lucky winners of the regatta watches of Bettina Mixdorf Seglerbedarf and of the motor boat license by Bootzeit were announced. Pictures are to come, so stay tuned.
